This website represents the 'Akali Nihang Baba Darbara Singh Sanatan Suraj Bansia Shastar Vidiya Shiv Akhara'.

Akali Nihang Baba Darbara Singh was the second 'Jathedar' of the 'Akal Bunga'/'Akal Takht', and its army – the 'Akali Nihang Singh Khalsa' (aka 'Buddha Dal').

The 'Buddha Dal' is the most ancient Khalsa military institution in Sikhism that was initially established with building of the Akal Bunga in 1606.

From that time Akali Baba Buddha Ji trained the 'Akali' warriors in the army of Akal Takht. These warriors were known variously as the 'Akal Sena'/'Akal Fauj/'Akal Purkh Ki Fauj'.

Later became informally to be known as the army of Akali Baba Buddha Ji - the 'Buddha Dal'.
