After the Sikh Gurus, in 1734, the third leader of the Sikh faith, Akali Nihang Baba Kapoor Singh, formally named the Akali Nihang Singh Khalsa army the 'Buddha Dal'.

The 'Ranjit Akhara' was the name of the first 'Akhara' where the 'Akali' warriors of the Akal Takht were trained by Akali Guru Hargobind (sixth Sikh Guru).

This 'Akali Nihang Baba Darbara Singh Sanatan Suraj Bansia Shastar Vidiya Shiv Akhara' represents the lineage of 'Gurdev' Sikhs and their style of Sanatan Hindu Sikh Shastar Vidiya that is descended from the Akali Nihang Baba Darbara Singh, who in turn studied under the great tutelage of Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh.

At present, the, Sanatan Hindu Sikh Shiv Akhara are open to ALL individuals of ANY race, colour, religion or sex who are of good character and sound of mind.

A belief within the 'Shiv Akhara' is that everyone has the right to defend themselves.
