Within the 'Akali Nihang Baba Darbara Singh Sanatan Suraj Bansia Shastar Vidiya Shiv Akhara', both 'Jang Dee Vidiya' and 'Savya Raksha' are taught.

Before any individual starts to learn, all new 'Shagird' must pledge three things publicly in front of all other Shagirds of the Shiv Akhara:

1. Not to misuse the 'Vidiya' in ANY form. Hence 'Savya Raksha Vidiya' is NOT for bullying/intimidating anyone, or for showing off to peers, etc. It is best to keep it as a secret private affair only to be used as a last resort

2. Not to make money from 'Savya Raksha' or 'Jang dee Vidiya' for purely personal use at the expense of 'Vidiya' in ANY form whatsoever

3. Not to teach the 'Vidiya' to ANYONE who does not pledge the above said two pledges (should one attain the position of 'Gurdev' in order to someday teach 'Savya Raksha' themselves).

Should one break these rules, after the matter is referred to the 'Gurdev' and the 'Panj Piyareh', they are either:

1. permanently dismissed from the 'Shiv Akhara'

2. suspended from the 'Shiv Akhara' for a certain period – during which time they are not allowed to attend any 'Akhara'

3. depending on the severity/impact of the violation (ie, bullying, intimidation, ABH, GBH, etc), in today's climate, the issue would be referred to the Law and the 'Shiv Akhara' would supply any information required by the appropriate legal authorities

There have already been some cases of individuals being formally dismissed from the 'Shiv Akhara' due to inappropriate misconduct and abuse the 'Vidiya.
