The Akali Nihang Baba Darbara Singh Sanatan Suraj Bansia Shastar Vidiya Shiv Akhara is modeled on traditional Buddha Dal lines.

As was traditionally the case, this in turn serves as a central linchpin for ALL its associated 'Shiv Akhara'. The various Shiv Akharas established will be seen as the 'Tarna Dal' units of the main 'Shiv Akhara'.

Any 'Shagird' of any of the Sanatan Hindu Sikh Shastar Vidiya Akhara or any other like-minded individual can propose any particular recommendation at the annual gatherings of Holla Mohalla, Vaisakhi and Diwali, at a pre-chosen Shiv Akhara.

The Shiv Akhara's decision will be made after taking into consideration the views and recommendations of all present. All the affected persons and those who made the proposal can all participate in a consensus. Once a unanimous consensus has been reached, the Akhara 'Gurdev' is informed and his approval is given. The 'Shiv Akhara Panj Piyareh' will do an 'Ardas' before 'Adi Guru Durbar', or 'Shastar', and pass the resolution, making the agreed upon decision take effect.

This is the Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh-ordained Khalsa institution of 'Gurmata'.
