Amongst 'Gatkabaj', the concept of 'Chatka' is non-existant.

Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha, a noted Sikh historian and theologian, defines 'Chatka' (also referred to as 'Jhatka'/'Jatka'/'Jhhatka') as:

'Chatka - Speak 'Sat Sri Akal' [Sikh battle chant] and decapitate the head with one blow of the weapon.'
(Mahan Kosh, Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha, 1926)

The 'Punjabi Dictionary' (first printed in 1895) defines 'Chatka' as:

'Chatka' - Corrupted from Sanskrit word 'Jhatakarakh'. A sudden shake, a jerk; cutting of the head of an animal at a stroke with a sword, the meat of such an animal which alone is lawful for Sikhs or Rajputs

'Chakta Karna' (verb) - To decapitate at a stroke (as a goat offered in a sacrifice or killed for eating)
(The Punjabi Dictionary, Bhai Maya Singh, 1992 ed published by NBS, Pa 407)

Chatka is the primary method employed by the Akali Nihang Singh Khalsa as a Sanatan Hindu Sikh Shastar Vidiya battle philosophy (i.e. to kill the opponent swiftly with minimum effort or pain).

This is central to the psychology of the 'Kyshatriya' mind.
