Contrary to what untruths fanatic vegetarian Sikhs propagated in the past (and still do today to exploit the ignorant), the term 'Chatka' is found in near ALL Sikh historical texts.
Here are given just a few examples of the numerous that exist.
The first text to mention 'Chatka' is 'Dasam Guru Durbar', a text as sacred to traditional Sikh warriors as the 'Adi Guru Durbar'. Within this text, the term it is used with regard to a warrior who kills with a single blow, or, killing an enemy with a single blow:
'With joy, from all directions, and joy in heart, came warriors of Chatka [they who kill with single blow].'
(Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Treh Chrittar 1, Dasam Guru Durbar)
'And the mother of the world [Chandi] was angered, in her mind, in a moment, she Chatka [killed] the Chatkila [killer] warriors.'
(Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Treh Chrittar 1, Dasam Guru Durbar)
Further, within the 'Rehitnama' written by Bhai Desa Singh, it is said:
'If you eat a goat then do so after Chatka only'
('Rehitnameh', by Piara Singh Padam, Pa. 148)
