sikhmartialart?
According to traditional Sanatan Hindu Sikh Shastar Vidiya, 'Shastar' have equal status with 'Shabad' contained within the three Sanatan Sikh scriptures.
The art of diluting the Hindu Sikh martial system with foreign arts as practiced by 'Gatkabaj', is a vile sin as this would be the equivalent of mixing other writings into Sikh scriptures and still calling these scriptures 'true'.
As such, true practitioners of Sanatan Hindu Singh Shastar Vidiya must at all costs keep unarmed and armed combat systems distinct and pure. Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh has stated:
'Until the Khalsa remains distinct until then I will give him all my power.'
(Akali Nihang Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Dasam Guru Durbar)
By definition, if the 'Khalsa' (the brotherhood created by the Guru) losses its distinctiveness, then such a 'Khalsa' does not remain 'Khalsa' anymore. This however, does not imply complete ignorance of other arts/skills in existance.
If an individual, out of genuine desire for knowledge and skill, wishes to study any other martial art, then by all means sincerely do so. By the same token, effectively stealing from other arts to adulterate Sanatan Hindu Sikh Shastar Vidiya traditions is not the act befitting a warrior of ANY sort. Niddar Singh Nihang asked the old warrior Nihang Baba Ram Singh:
'Q: And this fighting art we have, is it purely our indigenous art? Is it our 'Surya Bansi' art that has come from beginning?'
A: (Baba Ram Singh interrupts above question) It is from beginning.
Q: (Question continued) In it is there any foreign influence?
A: No, there is no foreign influence in this. It is of Suraj Bansi and the household of Taxila.'
