Also known as 'Bandook', 'Banduq', 'Bunduk', Bundook'.

An Indian gun. The Hindustanee name is 'Banduk' from the Arabic 'Bunduk'. In Hobson-Jobson it is defined as a musket or matchlock. The Handbook to the Ethnological Collections of the British Museum states that it means flintlock as distinguished from a matchlock ('Toradar'). Egerton used the two names for either indiscriminately, and the Catalogue of the Wallace Collection calls either kind of a gun Banduk-Toradar.
