Also known as 'Pracheen Panth Prakash'.
The original Khalsa Sikh history book first related orally by Shaheed Nihang Rattan Singh Bhangu to Captain Murray in 1809.
Later, in 1844, Rattan Singh documented the entire history himself. Rattan Singh Bhangu was the grandson of the famous Sikh warrior, Nihang Mehtab Singh. The text relates the struggle for survival experienced by the Khalsa nation in the 19th century as it faced the tyranny of the Mughal and Afghan regimes. This text collaborates all the Akali Nihang martial traditions. Expunged versions of this text produced by Bhai Vir Singh at the birth of the S.G.P.C sought to omit portions relating to so-called 'Hindu' aspects. At present, the Bhai Vir Singh edition is in circulation.
