As 'Kharag Devta' (divine form of 'Shiv Mahakal') emerged from the sacrificial fire, lightening flashed, the clouds thundered and Mother Earth shook.

No demigod could withstand the power and brilliance of the divine sword. It was then, that the voice of 'Parmeshvara' (highest transcendental Supreme Being) was heard from heaven:

“Come take hold of it and with hit kill Muroo and give comfort to the world.”
('Panth Parkash', Gian Singh, Bhasha Vibhag, Punjab, 1987, Pa. 235)

Brahma took hold of the fierce divine power, and gave it first to 'Rudra' - still its supreme deity ('Chandi'). In popular Hindu belief, the eight armed Chandi is none other than the incarnation of 'Parabati/Parvati' (Shiva's divine consort). In his text, 'The Book of the Sword, Richard F Burtan, states that in order to free the world from the Asuras or mighty daemons, Shiva killed the demons of Trehpuri.

Once Shiva completed his work successfully, he passed it on to Vishnu whereupon he He killed Muroo. As Burtan continues, Vishnu passed onto:

“Marci, and he to Indra. The Air-god conferred it upon the guardians of the World-quarters, and these to Manu, the son of the Sun, for use against evil-doers. Since that time it has remained in his family.”
('The Book Of The Sword', Richard F. Burtan, Pa. 214-215)
