This website, www.shastarvidiya.org is dedicated to the great master, Sanatan Hindu Sikh Shastar Vidiya Gurdev Akali Nihang Baba Mohinder Singh Nihang aka Baba ‘Katapa’ (one who beats) Singh. There could not be a better 'Gurdev' than he.

His great technical skills and insights into traditional Hindu Sikh martial arts and ideology were truly astonishing. His eccentricity and great sense of humour combined well to form his unique magical character. His greatest virtues were truth, sincerity and above all humility. Such was his humility that when his ‘Shagird’ Nihang Niddar Singh requested to take a photo of him, he turned around and snapped:

“You wish to hang my photo on your wall put garlands around it and do the sin of ‘Viaktikat Pooja‘ (worship of individuals) and send yourself and me to hell?"

As such, Nihang Niddar Singh has no photo or image of his Gurdev ‘Rabb Ji’, nor he of himself. The true images of those nearest and dearest to oneself are kept in the hearts, but they are as always, secondary to the Almighty, and Gurus, Avatars, Deva, Devis, and Shahid Singhs.
